Location: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pune 

Duration: Project for 3 Years​

Job Type: Contract 1Year (Extendable) 

Compensation: 35K to 45K

About the Role: 

​

This role will require a dynamic, leader who can inspire and manage a team of mobilizers while ensuring effective execution of community-based waste segregation and management initiatives. 

 

He/she will play a critical role in driving the success of the zero waste campaigns and ensuring the overall impact of the project. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

​

1.Team Leadership & Supervision: 

​

1. He/she is responsible for managing and supervising the team of IEC 

mobilizers ensuring they are accompanying the waste collection vehicles 

educating citizens, and ensuring they perform their duties effectively. 

2. Manage and oversee the ICE mobilizers to ensure smooth and effective 

implementation of waste segregation awareness campaigns. 

3. Coordinating behaviour change campaigns and awareness drives in 

selected wards. 

4. Provide guidance, support, and training to mobilizers to enhance their 

skills and performance. 

5.Monitor the daytoday activities of the mobilizers, ensuring compliance 

with project goals and objectives.

2.Strategic Planning & Execution: 

​

1. He/she is responsible for improving the efficiency of waste collection 

through route planning and vehicle monitoring through IEC mobilizers. 

2. Develop and implement strategies for the awareness campaigns, 

targeting communities, commercial establishments, and local 

organizations. 

3. Collaborate with local authorities, RWAs, SHGs, and community leaders 

to plan and organize outreach activities such as street plays, workshops, 

rallies, and flash mobs. 

4. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure proper execution of 

zero-waste initiatives. 

 

3.Monitoring & Reporting: 

​

1. Track progress and effectiveness of awareness campaigns, providing 

regular updates and reports to higher management. 

2. Oversee the collection of household records and geo-tagged reports from ICE mobilizers. 

3. Ensure that proper data collection and reporting protocols are followed 

for accurate and timely submissions. 

 

4.Training & Capacity Building: 

​

1. Organize training sessions for ICE mobilizers, Safai Mitras, and field

 staff to build capacity and improve understanding of waste segregation 

and decentralized waste management. 

2.Stay updated on best practices and innovations in waste management and composting, ensuring knowledge sharing with the team. 

 

5.Community Engagement & Relationship Building:

1. Strengthen relationships with residents, commercial establishments, 

and local organizations to ensure active participation in zero-waste practices. 

2. Encourage and facilitate communitydriven waste management 

initiatives. 

3. Address concerns and challenges faced by mobilizers and 

communities, resolving issues promptly to maintain positive relationships.

6.Compliance & Quality Control: 

​

7. Ensure that all mobilization activities are carried out in compliance with 

local regulations and project requirements. 

8. Conduct periodic quality checks on waste segregation and 

managementpractices to ensure compliance across all sectors. 

​

7. Performance Monitoring & Evaluation: 

​

8.Set performance targets for mobilizers, tracking their individual and 

collective achievements. 

9. Conduct periodic evaluations of mobilizers' work, providing 

constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement. 

10. Evaluate the impact and success of campaigns, implementing 

adjustments as needed.

8.Collaboration & Reporting: 

​

1. Act as the key point of contact between the ICE mobilizers, local 

authorities, and project management teams. 

2. Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports on waste 

segregation efforts, community engagement, and campaign results. 

 

9. Qualifications: 

​

1. Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in social work, or a related 

field. 

2. Experience: At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization, 

waste management, or environmental awareness programs. 

​

10. Skills & Competencies: 

​

1. Strong leadership and team management skills. 

2. Experience in coordinating with Government Bodies, Civil society 

organizations. 

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

4. Knowledge of waste segregation, recycling, and decentralized waste 

management practices. 

5, Ability to organize and lead community-based events and workshops. 

6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 

7. Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems. 

8. Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders. 

9. Ability to manage a team of 20 -30 IEC mobilizers.

11. Additional Requirements: 

​

1. Willingness to work in the field, interact with community members, and 

travel within the assigned area. 

2. Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) for geo-tagged reporting. 

3. Initially, the fixedterm contract shall be issued for a year based on 

performance, which shall be renewed yearly thereafter. 

4. Two-Wheeler and valid driving license are mandatory for this post.
